How to Join

Both Christ and Paul pointed us toward membership for our encouragement, our protection, our discipline and our instruction. We seek to admit members to Cedar Heights Baptist Church by the following:

Membership Matters Class
If you are considering becoming a member at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, you are strongly encouraged to attend a membership class called Membership Matters.

The Membership Matters class consists of five sessions designed to help you become better acquainted with the doctrine, history and direction of Cedar Heights Baptist Church. Depending on the number of attendees, the class lasts from one and a half to three hours.

The classes offered are:

  • Session 1 – Our Doctrinal Statement
  • Session 2 – Our Church Covenant
  • Session 3 – Why Join a Church?
  • Session 4 – History of the Church
  • Session 5 – 9 Marks of a Healthy Church

The Membership Matters class will be offered each quarter. Please contact the church office if you are interested in attending.

Membership Interview
The prospective member will meet with the deacons to provide basic biographical information and testify to God’s converting work in his or her life, and evidence of that work by baptism. After agreeing to the church’s doctrinal statement and covenant, the deacons will recommend the prospective member to the congregation for affirmation.

Congregational Affirmation
During a Sunday service the prospective member will be recommended to the congregation. Questions will be fielded, a vote will be taken, and with a majority secured, candidates will be admitted into membership.
