Review: Seeds Family Worship

What is it?
Seeds Family Worship creates scripture songs by setting Bible verses to music as an aid for memorizing and hiding God’s word in your heart. They have CDs, downloads, streaming services, as well as music videos with actions available on YouTube, digital downloads or DVDs.

Who’s it for?
As the name indicates, it is for families! Their website says, “Our songs are written for kids but also made to be enjoyed by all members of the family.” The music styles appeal to people of all ages and can be enjoyed as a family at home, in the car or as a group at church.

How’d it go?
“I was first introduced to Seeds from a friend who had purchased a CD and was given a second one for free for the purpose of sharing with a friend. (That was me – what a great ministry!) I started playing the CD in the kitchen during breakfast or lunch to help keep my kids at the table longer to eat. My youngest at the time was only around 2 and as his language skills developed he started singing the songs! It was the sweetest sound to my ears. It warmed my heart to know that he was not only enjoying the music, but God’s word was being planted even before he understood fully what they meant. There were songs that my oldest would also sing/repeat and I remember it fondly as a wonderful bonding time for us. It also helped strengthen my faith at the time as I was struggling to find ways to connect to God as a busy homeschooling mom. I still enjoy the CDs, but now there are options for videos on YouTube (or purchase DVDs). I’m excited to pair up Seeds music with AWANA as there are several scripture verse songs that match up with verses that the TNT group is memorizing. Adding the motions to the songs gives one more element to help the words sink in. It’s not too important that we do the motions “correctly”, (as I often don’t!) but it can help us to worship and allow the words to take root in our hearts and minds. The videos also add a visual element for those that learn best that way. Hearing, singing, moving and seeing are all ways to help us remember. I’m so thankful for this resource for our family as well as our church.” – Paula Ravn
